I am a professional paramedic with more than fifteen years of clinical experience within the Slovak Emergency Medical Service system (on basic and advanced life support crews). I’ve dedicated my career to critical conditions and decision-making in the prehospital phase, where the effectiveness of an intervention correlates directly with time and the ability to lead a team in an unpredictable environment.

My professional philosophy combines evidence-based medicine (EBM) with practical application within the specific conditions of Slovak legislation and equipment.

Areas of Expertise and Competencies

In my analytical and educational work, I rely strictly on current standards and methodologies:

  • Clinical expertise: Performing professional duties in accordance with Slovak Ministry of Health Decree No. 321/2005 Coll. and international standards (ERC, AHA, ESC), with an emphasis on translating them into the scope of practice for paramedics in Slovakia.
  • Analytical work: In-depth breakdowns of calls, evaluation of treatment protocols, and management of the critical patient (polytrauma, ROSC, sepsis).
  • Education and research: Implementing modern teaching methods into the training of future colleagues, and developing so-called micro-interventions — techniques that optimize teamwork and quality of care.

After years in the field, I identified a gap: there was no unified, practical educational space that integrated international recommendations directly into the realities of Slovak EMS — from available pharmacotherapy to the specifics of communicating with dispatch centers and emergency departments.

The goal of this platform is to:

  1. Synthesize knowledge: Deliver expert information presented precisely and methodically, so it’s immediately applicable at the patient’s bedside or in the field.
  2. Foster professional discourse: Build a culture of mutual learning, where paramedics share experience from difficult cases and raise the expertise of the whole profession.
  3. Improve efficiency: Give paramedics relevant information in one place, eliminating the need to search across scattered sources while preparing for a shift.

Legal and Scientific Framework

When creating content and analyses, I consistently follow:

  • Slovak Act No. 576/2004 Coll. and No. 578/2004 Coll., as amended.
  • Slovak Ministry of Health guidance for the field of emergency medicine.
  • Methodological guidelines from the Slovak EMS Operations Center.
  • Current European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guidelines.

I believe that quality emergency medicine doesn’t begin in the back of an ambulance, but in continuous preparation, training, and a willingness to critically examine one’s own work. This is my contribution to that development.
